Self-Awareness Saturday | Developing Awareness (Part 1) | Self-Analysis
Now that I have you guys at least familiar with the term and hopefully intrigued
to learn more, over the next several weeks I’ll be dropping helpful steps
towards developing your self-awareness and strengthening it.
I found this quote and I think it’s a wonderful summary of what we will
be going over today – Self-analysis.
"We wait all these years to find someone who understands us, I
thought, someone who accepts us as we are someone with a wizard's power to melt
stone to sunlight, which can bring us happiness in spite of trials, which can
face our dragons in the night, who can transform us into the soul we choose to
be. Just yesterday I found that magical someone is the face we see in the
mirror: It's us and our homemade masks.”
- Richard Bach
“Once you become aware, that’s it; excuses are no longer viable. When
you deny the facts about yourself, you start to live and breathe self-defeat.”
That being said, let’s go over the first step: self-analysis
Self-analysis consists of understanding one's own preconscious and insensible
materials like ideas, memories, thoughts, and emotions. Through self-analysis you
can discover your weakness and become capable of seeing the places and
positions you have to adjust. Everyone has false opinions and personal faults
committed by none other than them themselves but because of your self-analysis you
can learn to avoid such problems and deal with them if they should still occur.
Doing a self-analysis produces an extraordinary level of control over
yourself that you can then use to improve yourself. This practice is super
important so take it seriously. Write down your strengths and weaknesses so you
can become aware of them. Truly dig deep and really think of all the possible
things you can write down. You must analyze both sides of this and decide what
things you like about yourself and what things you wish to change. Your strengths
will help you convert your weaknesses. Don’t feel bad if your weaknesses
outnumber your strengths; my weaknesses outweighed my strengths too. Mostly
this is due from lack of self-confidence which comes from not having
self-awareness. Because of this you aren’t able to really see all the great
strengths you don’t even realize you already have.
Self-analysis is a stepping stone to becoming more self-aware. Use this
to learn your strengths, weaknesses, bad habits, good habits, patterns, etc.
Overtime and with consistent practice, you will learn to become aware
of everything and you will see your reality for exactly what it is. Without
this step, it may be hard to figure out where to start.
