What's in it Wednesday?
Shakeology | Maca Root

For this weeks What's in it Wednesday, I'm going to go over superfood, Maca Root!

Indigenous people of the Andes have consumed maca root aka Peruvian ginseng for centuries, calling upon this superfood as a natural remedy for a diverse range of conditions.

While considered a root vegetable and food staple in the Andean diet for thousands of years, Western researchers have only recently discovered this ancient herb and the many benefits it may provide for women.

These 8 benefits of maca for women are now supported by modern research! :)

 1. Decreases Menopause Symptoms
• Hormone balancer, research shows that its high nutrient density and phytochemical content may be the underlying contributors to this effect.
• Helps reduce many of the most common menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep disruptions, night sweats, and depression.
• Helps relieve symptoms associated with menopause.

2. Improves Sexual Function
• Improvement in sexual satisfaction when taking the highest dose of three grams per day.
• Potent fighter against chemically-induced sexual dysfunction.

3. Aphrodisiac
• Loaded with minerals like zinc, iodine, and essential fatty acids, helps balance sex hormones.
• Improves mood.
• With a healthy mood and balanced hormone levels, arousal is usually much easier to achieve.

4. Supports Mood
• Supports mood and overall brain health.
• Natural alternative to cognitive-enhancement drugs as the fatty acids in maca root support brain function, which may be responsible for stabilizing analytical skills, cognitive function, and rational thinking.
• Alleviates certain symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, and stress.

5. Fertility
So far, research has only examined maca root’s impact on fertility in animals, with much of the research showing promising results. Studies support maca’s traditional use as a fertility enhancer, especially for females, noting its ability to increase serum luteinizing hormone in the pituitary gland. This hormone is associated with fertility, among other factors in the body.

6. Increases Bone Density
• Increases important marker’s associated with bone density. This could be helpful for women who have a family history of osteoporosis, or for those who are simply seeking to protect their bone health.

7. Energy Enhancer
• Rich in vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and protein.
• Naturally support energy levels and aid in recovery from injury.
• Numerous studies have evaluated maca root for its role in athletic performance for these exact reasons.

9.19.16 - Day 36

Max Out Time: 8:20

It's 10 pm and past my bed time.

My shoulders are on fire so I couldn't complete my yoga and I am TIREDDD.

Normally I would be in bed by now lol....

"Feel the burn" - I definitely wore a very fitting shirt for today haha! 🔥

I increased my max out time today by almost 3 minutes! I was going to max out soon but then Shaun T yelled out only 5 more seconds so I stuck it out and pushed through!

Can't believe I started week 6 today! Day 8 of month two and Day 36 overall!

GOODNIGHT! 💤

9.20.16 - Day 37

Max Out Time: 13:09
Total Number of Push-ups: 86

6:30 AM workout sesh complete!

It's literally been like 9 hours since I did my last workout so I felt extra sore so I want to get back into my morning routine so I made myself do it anyways!

Had to take a little shoulder break in the middle since I have to be able to hold them up all day at work today haha!

Now all I have to do tonight is my yoga and Day 2's workout in my Booty Challenge!

Oh and just in case you are wondering... Or have ever wondered... Or are just curious... I am holding a 5 Day Sneak Peek Into Coaching on Monday! So far you'd like to learn more about what I do, how I earn money, what's makes a good coach, how to build a business and do it too, ANYWAY questions at all I will answer them for you!

All you have to do is go to the events tab of this page, open the event, and hit "Going" to RSVP!

NO commitments, no obligations, just laid back and informational!☺️

Day 9 of month 2, day 37 overall! 💪🏼

9.21.16 - Day 38

Taking my rest day today to catch up on my shows and catch up on my business!

One of my favorite things about Coaching is being able to work literally anywhere.

I can work outside, in my car, on my lunch break, in a plane, waiting in line at the grocery store... You name it!

I've come to find that there is literally nothing more rewarding to me than changing the love of another person.

Empowerment is SO important and it's something that we all need more of in life.

^theres a little hint in there that's a secret and BIG surprise I have been keeping from you all that I am thrilled to get finalized and share with the world!

It's business related so don't get any crazy ideas haha!

9.22.16 - Day 39

Max Out Time: 5:10

I took my rest day yesterday to catch up on #TheVoice (priorities, I know😂) I had every intention on doing a double day today just because.

Today was not a good day and to be honest I've been pretty upset and I can't really get my mind to focus.

I put off pushing play all night because I felt as tho I couldn't give 100% to this workout....

Regardless of my day, or how I feel about it I'm in the process of learning self care so with that being said... Whether I kick led ass in tonight's workout I still pushed play.

Even though I'm tired.
Even though I'm mentally drained.
Even though it's almost my bed time.
Even though I still have a million other things on my to do list.
Even though I literally want to sit on the couch and do nothing.
I pushed play regardless because I DESERVE it. I deserve to be healthy, I deserve my 'me time', and I deserve to have this healthy outlet.

So even if I had to use every inch of power in me to push play, I did it for ME.

I didn't give it my all. I'll be honest. I maxed out about 3 minutes earlier than I did the last time I did this workout but you know what, any workout is better than no workout!

Oh and I figured my Make It Happen shirt would be the most fitting for today. 😉

Day 11 of month 2, Day 39 overall complete!

9.23.16 - Day 40

Max Out Time: 7:10
Total Number of Push-ups: 134

Heyyyyy Day 40! And Day 12 of month 2 which I had to flip the photo on because I put up 21 instead 🙈😂 oops! I still made it work tho

Feeling better today and feeling productive!

I love love love this workout!
#MaxOutStrength

The push-ups kill me I feel like I did a million but I pushed thru!

Shakeology for lunch and now we're off to the races for the
#SeptemberSweep!

9.24.16 - Day 41

Max Out Time: 5:57

This is for yesterday!🙈#FridayFightRound2 is no freaking joke! Especially because you get so many less water breaks than normal!

I went thru almost two bottles of water today!!

After being at the race track all weekend it felt great to get back into my groove!

I think this one is slowly growing on me! 😍

If you're wondering why I used the TV today it's because my computer is messed up and I haven't been able to use it all day so fingers crossed it doesn't shit the bed😭

Oh and yes I know this doesn't match at all haha! I didn't realize it until I took my after picture... I literally feel like I never match anyways so I guess I'm not surprised! 😂

Day 13 of month 2, Day 41 overall!

9.25.16 - Day 42

Max Out Time: N/A

Annnnnd a little #Pulse to end the night!

Today I did yoga, two days worth of workouts from my 7 Day Booty Challenge, Friday Fight Round 2, and this.

I think I'm done for today😳😂

#day14 of #month2
#day42 of #insanitymax30 overall

Sneak Peek Into Coaching
5 Day Pass

Do you follow me on social media?!

If I was an outsider looking in at my life, I would be SOO confused! "What does she DO all day (besides workout)?!"

If you are scratching your head...wondering how I can afford to work from home so much, lead a healthy lifestyle and build a business...you are invited!

The whole concept of being a Beachbody coach can seem so abstract and SCAM-Y! I GET I!

I was one of the BIGGEST skeptics. I never buy anything or go anywhere until I read reviews and do my research.

I've been burned so many times from buying crap products and listening to the wrong people.

With that being said, I would like to "Pull the curtain back" and give you a glimpse into what I do...and you can decide if it's a good fit for YOU!

Join my 5 Day Coach Sneak Peek

I don't need a commitment...this is simply a chance for you to see if this is a good fit for you.

This will NOT be one of those schemey "Business Opportunities” where the creepy sales guy pitches a bunch of different things and tries to pressure people to commit.

Here is what I can promise:
  • I'm simply going to share MY story, reservations I had coming into the business... how/why I overcame them and how it has changed my life
  • I'll cover common objections and FAQs
  • Share our team CULTURE and values so you know what kind of "family" we are if you DO decide to take the leap

*NO pressure to sign up!

Simply an opportunity to learn more and decide if it might be right for YOU! You won't hurt my feelings if it's not for you or the timing just isn't right, I promise!

THAT'S IT!

5 Days --- ALL HEART, no pressure -- just us sharing the way I feel about this awesome opportunity and my desire to help others!

If you want to be a FLY on the wall in this group and don't already have a coach, simply CLICK HERE and hit "Going" to RSVP!

SNEAK PEEK BEGINS MONDAY SEPTEMBER 26th!

Scan the QR code with your mobile device to see my event on Facebook!

*NON COACHES ONLY PLEASE. I need to keep the group limited to those who are not coaches so that I can answer their questions as they come up.
Thanks for your understanding! xo

What's in it Wednesday | Shakeology | Goji Berry

What's in it Wednesday?
Shakeology | Goji Berry

I've decided to do a new series every Wednesday called, "What's in it Wednesday?" to explain all incredible ingredients in Shakeology that are found all over the globe! :)

For this weeks What's in it Wednesday, I'm going to go over superfood, Goji Berry!

You might not have heard of goji berries, but their claimed health benefits could encourage you to check them out.

Goji berries aka wolfberries, have long been enjoyed in China and the Himalayas for their sweet taste and bright color. Their history as a medicinal plant has roots in ancient China, where goji berries still are used to treat eye, liver, and kidney ailments. A host of additional nutritional and medical claims have made the fruit popular in the United States.

Let’s check out some of the impressive stats on goji berries:
• Contain ALL essential amino acids
• Have the highest concentration of protein of ANY fruit!
• Loaded with vitamin C
• Contain more carotenoids than ANY other food
• Contain twenty-one trace minerals
• High in fiber and by high in fiber, I mean 15 TIMES the amount of iron found in spinach
• High in calcium, zinc, selenium and many other important trace minerals
• Contain natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal compounds
• Powerful antioxidant properties and polysaccharides help to boost the immune system

It’s no wonder then, that in traditional Chinese medicine they are renowned for increasing strength and longevity. There is no doubt that the goji berry is a nutritional powerhouse, to say the least!

In traditional Chinese medicine, the goji is said to act on the kidney and liver meridians to help with lower back pain, dizziness and eyesight. They are most often consumed raw, made into a tea or extract, or as an ingredient in soups.

Goji's are most commonly available in dried form, and make a great snack eaten as is, added to trail mix, muesli or oatmeal. They can also be soaked for a couple of hours in enough water to cover them. Then the soak water can be drained off and makes a delicious drink, or both water and berries added to smoothies.

*Please note that there can be adverse interactions if you consume goji berries while also taking medication for diabetes, or blood pressure, or take the blood thinner warfarin. So be sure to consult your health care provider if that is the case.

*Watch for "What's in it Wednesday?" every Wednesday at 7:30 PM EST over at Facebook.com/RachelFaulFitness!

Stay tuned for next week! :)

9.12.16 - Day 29

Max Out Time: 5:14

Heyyyy MONTH TWO! 👋🏼

So it's Day 29 of my
#InsanityMax30 journey but it's Day 1 of Month 2 so since I can't think of any possible way I can show like 39 or 47 using my hands (lol) I just decided to start at 1 with them again since its my new month!

And I decided to switch the order that I put my pictures in to decider between what's month one and what's month two.

Month 1 photos have my after photo on the left and my before photo on the right.

Month 2 photo will have my before photo on the left and my after photo on the right.

Before I talk about how today went, can I just take a minute to look at how red my ENTIRE BODY gets after my workout! 😳

That's crazy!🔥

Anyways! Today went well! The first workout was
#MaxOutCardio and there were a few moves I had to modify because I can't do that much jumping right now.

(The neighbor below us complained to our landlord that I was too loud during my workouts because of the jumping) hence why I stopped wearing shoes to workout in if any of you noticed, I think it helps me land a little quieter haha!

So yeah, unfortunately he's home right now and I know it so I didn't want to be too loud😒

I still tried to make my modifications as intense as possible tho!

I loved those squat to planks!! New fave move there!!

9.13.16 - Day 30

My stomach wasn't liking me so much today so I decided it was going to be my rest day.

I didn't want to take it so early but I had zero energy for my workout. :/

Awareness is our true self; it's what we are.

So we don't have to try to develop awareness; we simply need to notice how we block awareness with our thoughts, our fantasies, our opinions, and our judgements.

We're either in our awareness which is our natural state, or we're doing something else.

#JokoBeck

9.14.16 - Day 31

Max Out Time: 15:24
Total Number of Push-ups: 76

31 Days into #InsanityMax30 today!
Today's also day 3 of month 2, I took my rest day yesterday because I wasn't feeling too hot so I made up that workout today!

It was
#MaxOutPower which again was a Tabata style workout so of course I loved it!
To be honest, at first I was like holy crap this is so easy! Nearly five minutes in, taking our first water break, I thought it was going to be an easy day.

Then we start doing slap back jacks in 9738 different ways, plus squat pulses and omg my thighs were on fire! 🔥

I pushed through tho and got to the second water break.

Then it was push up time and I did 76 in one little segment and my chest was burning🔥 and I finally maxed out at 15:24!

I really had my head in the game today since I was so bummed about taking my rest day yesterday but I kicked ass today so it all worked out! 😁

Taking a short break to post this then I'm going to get my yoga in while I'm all sweaty before I hop in the shower! ☺️

9.15.16 - Day 32

Max Out Time: 8:35
Day 4 of month 2, day 32 overall of #insanitymax30!

Took on
#MaxOutSweat and to be honest I had to modify the majority of it because that guy that lives below of (that complained about my jumping) is home😒
Other than that it was a lot of moves that I've already done from the previous workouts just meshed all together so that was kind of nice to already know the moves but I wish there would've been some new ones!

I didn't hate this one as much as I hated sweat intervals tho haha!

9.16.16 - Day 33

Max Out Time: 7:58
Total Number of Push-ups: 123

I can't even tell you the last time I worked out with a t shirt on...

Let's just say this shirt was not this right around the arms when I bought it!

I guess that's a good thing tho! I'm okay with it being tight in that area at least! 😜

I loved today's workout!!
#MaxOutStrength was a #tabata style workout so hello, of course I was going to enjoy it!! This was actually like the 3rd workout I've done today because of filming for my upcoming booty challenge and my yoga!

I feel great right now but I'm sure I won't be saying the same tomorrow!

I love the variation of the lower body exercises in this one and the jumps weren't that extreme so I actually could do them even with my neighbor hone😍

Thanks for being so awesome Day 5 of month 2, Day 33 overall of my
#insanitymax30 journey!

9.17.16 - Day 34

Max Out Time: 5:53 So 45 seconds into my workout today I hear Shaun T say, "This is the hardest workout I have ever created"

He wasn't lying😳

I'm not sure what just happened but I've never had to stop that many times in a workout before....

#FridayFightRound2 you kicked my ass! 👊🏼

There was a ton of new exercises in this workout which again were a nice surprise but my favorite was the squat planks!

I could heard my back cracking each rep I did I loved it haha!

Cannot believe it's almost the end of week 5! Holy cow this is going by QUICK!!

So for those of you watching, start NOW! Don't wait until I'm done!! The time is going to pass regardless! Why not be proud of yourself in 3 weeks instead of kicking yourself in the ass for not starting sooner?!

9.18.16 - Day 35

Max Out Time: N/A

Okay so I get that this picture is probably a little deceiving...
I'm all decked out in #T25 gear but really I did #InsanityMax30 haha!

Still a @shauntfitness program tho so it counts! 😉

So happy to do #Pulse today! I've been working like crazyyyy on my online business these past few days so it was nice to have twenty minutes to unwind a little bit.

Day 35 overall, day 7 of month two!
Which means.... I just freaking completed week five holy crap!! 😍☺️☺️☺️

Also starting my booty challenge tomorrow🍑

I think I just have a problem of always adding more to my plate! Haha🙈

Really wishing I had a foam roller right now because my back needs it!

I will be posting these updates at the end of each week so stay tuned for my week six update!

Organic vs Natural & What They Really Mean!

Organic vs Natural & What They Really Mean!

For food retailers and marketers, there are 2 magic words that help move product and charge premium prices -- "Natural" and "Organic".

Some people, wishing to eat healthier, seek out foods that are organic/natural. Others, comparing several products, and all things being equal, prefer the ones labeled natural/organic.

Although the 2 terms - organic and natural - have come to mean "healthy", they are NOT interchangeable.

Here's what you need to know:
Organic - A food is considered organic, and may only be labeled so, if it adheres to strict regulation set by the USDA. An organic product must be composed of ingredients that are organic. An ingredient such as a grain or fruit is organic only if it has been grown following organic standards - avoidance of pesticides and no genetic modification.
Organic animal products must adhere to strict animal husbandry standards, for example not using antibiotics, providing better living conditions for the animals, and preserving the environment.

Natural - this is a term that is unregulated, and therefore heavily abused by food companies.
For example, products that contain GMOs, contain artificial ingredients, and highly processed ingredients, have all been labeled by their manufacturers as "all natural".
The FDA is contemplating whether it should regulate the meaning of this term, but it's a can of worms.

So, when you choose a product to buy or eat, know this:
👉Organic junk food is still junk food.
👉Too much sugar, even if it's organic, is still bad for you.
👉Foods labels such as Natural are absolutely meaningless. Read the ingredient list and nutrition label instead of the front of package.
👉Always opt for the least processed products.
👉Cook as much of your food from scratch, that's the best strategy for health.
👉Eating 5 servings of non-organic veggies every day is much better than eating just 1 serving of organic veggies.

For more reasons why you should eat organic, check out my other blog post, "Reasons Why You Should Eat Organic!"
