Self-Awareness Saturday | Developing Awareness (Part 7) | Be Aware of Your Habits
Last
week I went over the sixth step, learn your frustrations, so this week I'm
going go over the seventh step: be aware of your habits.
We all have habits - the good ones, the bad ones, and the just plain ugly ones whether we like to admit it or not. It makes us who we are.
While we may very well already be aware of our habits, it's important to step back and ask ourselves - why?
Why do we have these habits?
Maybe you're a nail biter
Maybe you're a late night snacker
Maybe you're a smoker
Maybe you're always late
Maybe you swear a lot
Maybe you're a procrastinator
Maybe you're a workaholic
Maybe you're a shopaholic
Maybe you're a daily flosser
Maybe you're a daily napper
The list goes on and on and on.
You get my point.
Sit down and start making some lists. Make a list of your good habits, your bad habits, and your ugly habits.
As you're writing you might be a little surprise by what you come up with.
It's important to then evaluate your lists and ask yourself WHY you think you have each of these habits.
Don't beat yourself up too much about the bad and the ugly ones, those habits can always be changed if you work at it. You just can't change them until you are aware of them first in the first place and can understand why you have them.
If you struggle with time management, find a way to get better at it. If you are constantly stressed out, find a better way to release it.
Replace those habits with better, healthier, and happier habits.
