Motivational Mindset Monday | Believe In Yourself

Motivational Mindset Monday | Believe In Yourself

A few Monday's ago I talked about positive affirmations and how you speak to yourself has such a HUGE impact on your life.

On top of drowning yourself in affirmations, I want you to develop a strong belief.

For those of you that have been following me for awhile, you know I work from home a lot thanks to my online business. For any other young entrepreneurs out there doing something "different" than the social norm, this especially applies to you.

If I could give any piece of advice, I would simply tell you to believe in yourself. I promise you when I tell you that with belief anything is possible.

There's so many "naysayers" in this world. Everyone is dying to tell your opinion and God forbid you do something out of the ordinary, you get made fun of for it.

It is SO easy to tune in to what everyone is saying around you. It is SO easy to throw in the towel on your dreams just because someone thinks it's not worth it, it's not realistic, etc.

Stick to YOUR believe and do what YOU want to do.

Life is all about facing and conquering the challenges presented to you. No one has a perfect life, there will ALWAYS be ups and downs regardless of who you are.

BUT with belief in yourself, anything is possible. Belief creates opportunities. Belief conquers all fears. Belief is where DREAMS are made. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.

Do you like your life? Because if you're not IN LOVE with it, why don't you change it? Why don't you BELIEVE that you're worth it, or that you deserve it, or that it's possible?!

You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Shoot for the stars then NEVER stop reaching for them.

When in doubt - I want you to close your eyes and say in your mind, "I believe in myself" and I promise with that simple thought and positive energy you will be able to conquer all of what you set your soul to do.

Success takes time, LOTS of time and even more than that - consistency.

NO ONE else can make you successful or make your dreams come true for you. Period.

If you don't believe in yourself, who will?

.

.

💕My challenge for you is to tell yourself, at least once everyday, that you believe in yourself.💕
.
.

Story Time Sunday | We almost lost our pants!

Sunday, November 27, 2016

Story Time Sunday | We almost lost our pants!

For this weeks Story Time Sunday I am going to talk about something embarrassing - getting pantsed!

Devin and I didn't go on our first vacation together until we were together for almost a year.

We went with his family to Glendale Lake in July 2009. There was a basketball court there, we did some shopping, and we spent some time at the lake.

One of my biggest memories from this trip was when I ran into a glass sliding door...what a way to win over the family, right? That's just me though, they know now not to expect anything less haha!

I know in this photo we look all cool, calm, and collected like we're having a great time but that wasn't the case the whole time.

Neither one of us had ever gone tubing before so it was a really exciting for us to do especially because we were experiencing it together. I remember it being hard to hold on, especially when we were going over waves. We were trying really hard not to push each other off of the tube.

What happened was that we were focusing so much on not losing our grip to fall into the water that we weren't really paying attention to much else. We suddenly realized that while we were going at a high rate of speed, our pants were making their way off.

Talk about an embarrassing thought running through your head and not having very much time to even think. It basically came down to making a split decision, either keep holding on to the rope, not fall off into the water, but lose our swim suit bottoms in the process OR let go of the rope, fall off the tub, but keep our bottoms on.

Our slit second choice? We chose to let go and keep our pants.

Wouldn't that have been interesting had we chosen the other route!

We had such a good time though, it's definitely something neither one of us will forget and we've been dying to do it again ever since. Well, the tubing part at least, not losing our pants.

I want to know: How was your first tubing experience?

Self-Awareness Saturday | Developing Awareness (Part. 2) | Learn About Your Personality

Self-Awareness Saturday | Developing Awareness (Part. 2) | Learn About Your Personality

Last week I went over the first step, self-analysis so this week I'm going to over step two: learn about your personality.

If you missed last week, click HERE to catch up and read it!

This is going to be a fun one!

For those of you who may not know, I am releasing another brand soon and I have hired a Facebook manager in the process to help me manage all my social media. With this came a lone, intense online course I went through to help me create my vision for the brand.

I had to do a TON of self-analysis and personality testing and I am so glad I did because I learned so so so much about myself in the process.

Anyways, for step two I want you guys to take two different personality tests, similar to the ones I did.

Be honest with your answers, there is no right or wrong with these. No one is going to see them, not even me. You might learn some things about yourself or maybe you'll have a few light bulbs go off, either way I promise they're worth your time! Yes, they're both free! :)

The first test is The Enneagram Test!
The enneagram is a profound and powerful guide to understanding your personality and inner workings. Want to know your enneagram type? Just take this simple 10 minute enneagram test!

Go here to take this test: http://www.enneagramtest.net/

The second test is The Color Code!
The Color Code Personality Assessment is the most accurate, comprehensive, and easy to use personality test available. Unlike other personality tests, The Color Code not only identifies what you do but why you do it, allowing you to gain much deeper and more useful insights into what makes you and those around you tick.

Go here to take this test: http://www.colorcode.com/

How were your results? Are you surprised?

Dental Talk Thursday | Dental Abscess

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Dental Talk Thursday | Dental Abscess

For this weeks Dental Talk Thursday we are going to be talking about something no one wants, a dental abscess.

An abscess is an area of pus that forms as a result of a bacterial infection. Pus is a combination of enzymes, damaged cells and tissues, and white blood cells that are both dead and alive. When there is no way for pus to drain, an abscess is formed. Abscesses can be caused by trauma, bacteria, or food or debris deep under the gum.

The main symptom of an abscess is a persistent, throbbing pain. At first, the tooth will be heat and pressure sensitive. Later, a fever may develop, swollen lymph nodes under the jaw or in the neck may appear, and pain may be felt in the sinus area.

If an abscess ruptures, an abrupt blast of malodor will occur and an unpleasant fluid will leak into the mouth.

Your dentist can diagnose an abscessed tooth through oral examining along with an x-ray and pulp test. Saving an abscessed tooth starts with draining the infection to remove the bacteria and relieve the pain. A root canal will likely be necessary and should be started as soon as possible. If the abscess involves gum tissue, your dentist may advise you to rinse with warm salt water a few times daily for several days. You may also be prescribed antibiotics to help make sure the infection has been removed before starting treatment.

Don’t worry; you can help to prevent this from happening. You can do so by practicing good oral hygiene which will keep the teeth and gums free of food and debris. Also, don’t forget to keep up with your regular dental checkups, too!

If you have a toothache or notice evidence of an abscess on your gum, visit your dentist. Even if the abscess drains and the pain decreases, a visit to the dentist for complete treatment is crucial. The prognosis is excellent IF detected promptly and treated appropriately.

Motivational Mindset Monday | Do Your Best With Where You're At

Monday, November 21, 2016

Motivational Mindset Monday | Do Your Best With Where You're At

Okay you're probably not in your dream situation, you're probably wishing things were different, a lot different. Hey, we're all human and it's okay to feel that way. It's okay to have high hopes and dreams but don't ever let that stop you from enjoying and appreciating the process.

There are millions of little stepping stones we must cross to reach out dream destination, some are wonderful, some are well...not so much. Regardless of which one it is, you must learn to keep moving forward ANYWAYS. Don't let these stepping stones hold you back or get you down. Appreciate each and every step because that's one step closer to where you want to be; it's all a part of the process.

When you look around, your life probably isn't nearly as bad as you might think it is. Yeah, maybe some crappy things have happened or maybe you had some unexpected set back. Don't forget that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and remember that happiness is a choice.

We can't rely on people or things for happiness because what happens if we ever lose those things? Well, our happiness goes right with it. You don't need anything to be happy except to DECIDE that you are happy. Be grateful for the struggles, appreciate how much stronger you become because of them. Be positive and recognize all the things that are helping you get to where you want to be.

Never stop being present in the moment. Make the most out of each and every day, whether it was a good day or a bad one. Life is short, don't look back one day wishing you would've done something now. Even if you're no where near where you're going, NEVER stop going for it. It's brave, it's scary, it's intimidating but it's worth the ride so appreciate the process.

.
.
💕My challenge for you is to appreciate today and think of 5 positive things that happened today.💕

Story Time Sunday | Getting my belly button pierced!

Sunday, November 20, 2016

Story Time Sunday | Getting my belly button pierced!

For this weeks Story Time Sunday I am going to talk about something I have a low tolerance for - pain!

When it comes to pain I will admit, I am a total baby. Needles don't bother me but just the little "pinch" of getting blood work done stresses me out.

I didn't even get my ears pierced for the longest time and to be honest I think it was probably around the same time as this. I didn't like pain and I didn't want "holes" in my body.

I honestly don't even remember what convinced us to go get our belly buttons done but I we all knew we wanted to go together. I went with my best friend Justine and our friend Taylor, I was only 13 at the time. We went to someone's house in town to have it done and looking back it was a little bit of a sketchy way to have it done.

When we got to the house I don't remember who went first but I know it wasn't me. When it was my turn I made Taylor hold my hand because I was so scared haha! I remember it being the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. For those few seconds I thought for sure I was going to die. I know I'm dramatic but like I said I don't like pain.

If that's not bad enough, I even asked for a lollipop after I was done. And I got one. And it was my favorite flavor. Sour green apple.

Needless to say, I have only gotten my cartilage pierced since and that was not bad at all. I would never get my belly button pierced again, that's for sure!

I want to know: What was your worst piercing?

Self-Awareness Saturday | Developing Awareness (Part 1) | Self-Analysis

Saturday, November 19, 2016

Self-Awareness Saturday | Developing Awareness (Part 1) | Self-Analysis

Now that I have you guys at least familiar with the term and hopefully intrigued to learn more, over the next several weeks I’ll be dropping helpful steps towards developing your self-awareness and strengthening it.

I found this quote and I think it’s a wonderful summary of what we will be going over today – Self-analysis.
"We wait all these years to find someone who understands us, I thought, someone who accepts us as we are someone with a wizard's power to melt stone to sunlight, which can bring us happiness in spite of trials, which can face our dragons in the night, who can transform us into the soul we choose to be. Just yesterday I found that magical someone is the face we see in the mirror: It's us and our homemade masks.” - Richard Bach

“Once you become aware, that’s it; excuses are no longer viable. When you deny the facts about yourself, you start to live and breathe self-defeat.”

That being said, let’s go over the first step: self-analysis

Self-analysis consists of understanding one's own preconscious and insensible materials like ideas, memories, thoughts, and emotions. Through self-analysis you can discover your weakness and become capable of seeing the places and positions you have to adjust. Everyone has false opinions and personal faults committed by none other than them themselves but because of your self-analysis you can learn to avoid such problems and deal with them if they should still occur.

Doing a self-analysis produces an extraordinary level of control over yourself that you can then use to improve yourself. This practice is super important so take it seriously. Write down your strengths and weaknesses so you can become aware of them. Truly dig deep and really think of all the possible things you can write down. You must analyze both sides of this and decide what things you like about yourself and what things you wish to change. Your strengths will help you convert your weaknesses. Don’t feel bad if your weaknesses outnumber your strengths; my weaknesses outweighed my strengths too. Mostly this is due from lack of self-confidence which comes from not having self-awareness. Because of this you aren’t able to really see all the great strengths you don’t even realize you already have.

Self-analysis is a stepping stone to becoming more self-aware. Use this to learn your strengths, weaknesses, bad habits, good habits, patterns, etc.

Overtime and with consistent practice, you will learn to become aware of everything and you will see your reality for exactly what it is. Without this step, it may be hard to figure out where to start.

Fitness Talk Friday | How To Prevent DOMS

Fitness Talk Friday | How To Prevent DOMS

DOMS stands for delayed-onset muscle soreness and it happens to all of us. It's what makes you feel the burn while your muscles recover and rebuild.

Even if you’re eating at a calorie deficit, you want to make sure to get enough healthy proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, all which play important roles in repairing and maintaining muscles. A couple hours after working out and when you sleep are two times when protein synthesis aka muscle repair increases. You put your body under a lot of stress when you're working out so don't forget to take care of it after how hard you just pushed it.

What can you do about the post-workout soreness? You can prevent it from happening by doing the right things.

Here are some ideas to try:

1. Drink chocolate milk or eat a protein packed snack after your workout.
2. Drink some tart cherry juice afterwards as it has also been shown to reduce soreness.
3. If you are really big into fitness and constantly have the same sore areas, think about having a sports massage  done to help increase your circulation and break up some of those big knots.
4. Take a cold shower after your workout to decrease inflammation in your muscles.
5. Do some good ol' stretching because lengthening your muscles after a workout promotes mobility and helps with recovery.
6. Try a scoop of Beachbody Performance Recover and a pre-bedtime scoop of Beachbody Performance Recharge to assure your body has access to amino acids.
7. Immediately after a tough workout try icing your muscles to starve off inflammation.
8. While ice works immediately after a workout, heat can help increase circulation once your muscles have returned to their resting temperature.
9. Put a foam roller on the floor, use your body weight to apply pressure and roll back and forth over the sore areas for about 60 seconds. *Make sure you rehydrate and get your heart rate back to normal first because when your muscles are hot and loaded with lactic acid, you might make it worse.
10. Add foods that are rich in omega-3s such as salmon, free-range meat, flax, avocado, and walnuts to your diet.

Dental Talk Thursday | Why You Need 6 Month Visits

Dental Talk Thursday | Why You Need 6 Month Visits

Let's talk teeth!

For this week's Dental Talk Thursday we are going to be talking about why it is so important for you to visit your dentist and dental hygienist every 6 months!

Early diagnosis of tooth decay.
These issues may seem minor at first, but they can lead to more serious problems and even major dental concerns if they are not addressed early. The whitish film that builds up on your teeth is called plaque and is the leading cause of tooth decay. This acidic substance eats away at the tooth enamel and, if left unattended, can lead to cavities. Regular visits can help you diagnosis and treat these conditions early.

Clean teeth.
For proper oral health and hygiene, you must brush and floss the correct way. Your dental hygienist can show you the proper way to brush. They are trained to help you brush effectively to maintain your dental health. A healthy set of teeth is a crucial part of enhancing your appearance. Your hygienist will clean up your teeth by removing dental plaque, tartar, and stain while making suggestions on your daily oral health routine.

Diagnosis of severe dental disease.
The National Institutes of Health report that over 30,000 Americans suffer from oral cancer each year. Fortunately, early diagnosis of dental diseases such as oral cancer can help save your life. Your dentist will conduct an oral cancer screening during your regular six-month visit. Oral cancer is known to spread quickly, but can be easily countered if detected early.

Gum disease.
Certain nutritional habits may lead to gum disease which can expose healthy teeth to tooth loss and other serious health ailments. Regular dental visits will allow the dentist to diagnose gum problems early on. Some gum issues can be reversed if caught early enough.

Stop tooth loss.
Gum disease, which starts with built-up plaque, is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. As gum disease advances, plaque moves further down the tooth where it can destroy the supporting bone in your jaw, causing teeth to loosen and fall out. Luckily, the chance of this happening to you can be greatly reduced through regular dental cleanings combined with good oral hygiene habits.

Brighten your smile.
Drinking coffee, tea and wine or using tobacco can stain your teeth. A dental cleaning can remove built-up stains and leave you with freshly polished teeth. The result is a bright white smile!

Freshen your breath.
Good oral hygiene is the best way to prevent persistent bad breath, especially if you’re also brushing your tongue. Even if you brush and floss regularly, getting a cleaning is a great way to keep your mouth healthy and odor-free.

Ensure that your x-rays are up to date.
Dental x-rays can detect even the slightest traces of oral health problems at their earliest stages, such as cavities, gum disease, oral infections, tumors, and other pathology.

Boost your overall health.
Studies have shown a connection between oral and overall health. Regular dental cleanings may help lower your risk for some diseases, like heart disease and stroke. Many medical conditions, some of them life-threatening, can be detected in their early stages by your dentist during a routine oral exam.

Save money.
Get the most value from your dental benefits. Most insurance plans cover dental cleanings, x-rays, and oral exams twice a year. If you take advantage of your benefits now, you may be able to save money in the long run by helping to protect your oral health and potentially avoiding more costly and extensive procedures.
